Car Hire UK
Anybody any recomendations or suggestions for a decent place to hire a car (probably pickup/drop off at Stanstead)?
There are quite a few hire companies, orices seem to vary when booking through Ryanair, other sites or direct through Europcar etc
I’ll need it for a week so all about keeping costs down. Advice / suggestions appeciated.

I never hire a car when back in the UK, no interest in that whatsoever. Fuck worrying about all the new rules of the road, as for parking, fuck that, would probably get fined just for parking outside your own house these days. Public transport, or jump in someone else's motor, all the way for me.

Thats true as well Mex, hence why i use the place at Slough i put the link up for, i rent for 3/4 weeks and its significantly cheaper than anything at Heathrow.

Its a 30 min bus ride from Heathrow central for 2 Quid or you can just get a Cab, but find Cabs out of Heathrow outrageously priced so fuck that, Burnham station is only 5 mins away from the hire place as well and you go straight into central London.

Last year i got a brand-new Skoda Fabia, was a lovely car TBH, was quite impressed i always associated Skoda with shit box but not anymore, owned by VW, cost me 500 quid for just under 3 weeks, no restriction on milage.

Check hiring away from the airport as it can come out cheaper.

Don't EVER pay for the higher insurance! Your card may cover it as Sydney says, but if not just get Excess Cover. Costs a handful of Pounds for a few days and not loads more for the year, depending on where you need it to cover. Infinitely cheaper than the rental company cover, anyway.

Re: Car Hire UK
I get a car when I come to the UK and use either Klook.com who are booking site, have a car booked for May through them with Hertz, just a basic small car but under 30 quid a day

The other place is this place in Slough, it’s about a 30 min bus ride from Heathrow, you get a decent motor in the latest Skoda and prices are reasonable, but you have to pick up and drop off at this location but if your flying in and out of Heathrow that’s ok.

One tip is you get 2 choices with insurance, the basic or more comprehensive, but check your credit card doesn’t have this as complementary, mine does and will save you a good few quid.

I use Skyscanner as well.

Re: Car Hire UK
It isn't really possible to recommend because a place that's cheap one time won't be the next.

I usually start at Skyscanner.
